The Kwacha is the currency of Zambia, it is the Nyanja word for “dawn” or “the sun has risen”. The Pan-Zambian rendition was largely sang in Nyanja which is one of Zambia’s main dialects.
In the visual of the song shot in Zambia, the director, Lanzee Mulenga captures the story of 10 Kwacha note changing hands and solving little problems for ordinary people as it does for many in the everyday life of Zambians. Scarlett appeals to the listener’s inner optimist and reminds them that “it’s gonna be alright”.
